As per a statement released by the studio, we can expect updates to six of the multiplayer survival game’s six perks (Diversion, Fixated, Hex: Undying, Iron Maiden, Open Handed, and Second Wind) as well as some overarching changes to the game’s HUD and UI. After four years and a tease last year, the developer notes that it feels the time is right to apply a big overhaul to the game that will see widespread changes for both Survivors and Killers. The main changes coming to the game’s UI is designed around making everything a bit cleaner and easier to read. A screenshot shown in the update (shown in the video) outlines how a player’s screen should look once the update has been applied. The newly-reworked HUD will better indicate which perks, items and add-ons you have picked up in the session, whilst also showing off the number of generators remaining to fix and the condition of other Survivors. If you’re a streamer or want more control over the UI, fret not: a scaling option will be added to the game that allows you to customize where the HUD sits in relation to everything else on-screen. We’re also going to see a change to the way matchmaking works in the game, too (undoubtedly to the delight of more competitive players) and once the developers are happy with the way matchmaking works, it plans to introduce ‘rank rewards’. “Since ranks will no longer be used for matchmaking, they will instead be repurposed to reward dedicated players. Each month, everyone will be given Bloodpoints based on the highest rank they’ve reached and then be reset to rank 20.” On top of all that, we’re also going to see a graphics overhaul for the Gideon Meat Plant and the Crotus Prenn Asylum, too. These new visuals teased in the video and over on the game’s blog. There’s a lot coming to the game, then – and there’s likely even more to come once this Mid-Chapter update drops. Hopefully, we see something similar to the Silent Hill-themed that landed last year.
